Chaparral is an ancient medicinal plant used by southern Native American tribes. Larrea tridentata grows in the desert regions of the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. Chaparral has lignan, nordihydroguaiaretic acid (NDGA), which is a strong anti-inflammatory. The chaparral herb also contains antioxidant flavonoids. There are strong cautions in using this herb.
