Indigenous to Britain and Europe, cultivated in American. Some of the main constituents are volatile oil 1-3% including menthol, menthone, cineole and pulegone. Peppermint contains minerals – magnesium, potassium, copper, iodine, iron, silicon.
Peppermint maybe used in herbal medicine mainly with the digestive system. Ailments like intestinal colic, flatulent dyspepsia, IBS, ulcerative colitis and crohn’s disease. This herb may also be utilised with tension type headaches, relief of cough and colds and pain with irritable skin conditions.
